PRIVATE DINING ROOM & RESTAURANT BLOG

The Face Behind the Food Part Two

October 23, 2016

We are featuring a special series of Head Chef blog posts. As there are so many to mention, this is part two where Private Dining London get up close to the faces behind the private rooms we all enjoy. See the first installment earlier in our blog by clicking here.

ALEXANDRE NICOLAS, EXECUTIVE CHEF

Rivea London, Bulgari Hotel, 171 Knightsbridge, London SW7 1DW

Forty year old chef Alexandre Nicolas finds his roots in Brittany. Son of a greengrocer, Alexandre has spent most of his childhood on the Rungis market. He’s been inspired from a very early age by the beauty of the produce and naturally thought of working as a chef.

In his early days, Alexandre touched a bit of everything: going from the Kitchens of Palais du Luxembourg (the home to the French Senate), the Lancaster Hotel to La Maison Blanche on Avenue Montaigne in Paris. He finally entered Alain Ducasse Entreprise in March 2003. A date to remember.

After putting his expertise at the service of the Spoon at the Sanderson Hotel and participating in the opening of Alain Ducasse at The Dorchester in London, he then moved back to Paris at the Spoon Food&Wine and the Relais du Parc. But his story with London was not over. Today, Alexandre’s passion for a generous and simple cuisine leads him to the helm of Rivea London in the Bulgari Hotel, London, where he has been the Executive Chef since 2012.

FRANCIS AGYEPONG, HEAD CHEF
Christopher’s, 18 Wellington St, London WC2E 7DD

At the helm of the kitchen is Head Chef, Francis Agyepong, who has been running the kitchen for twenty-three years. Before turning to cooking, Francis Agyepong is also an Olympic legend, competing as a British Olympic triple-jumper in two Olympic Games (1992-96) and a series of championships - winning a silver medal in the 96 European Indoor Championships in Athletics. When he’s not hop, stepping and jumping on the field, he is cooking up a storm in the heart of the West-End, adding his own twists on US classics.

Their Private Dining Room…

Christopher’s Club Room serves as an exclusive retreat to host anything from sit-down lunches and dinners, to private drinks parties, launch events and corporate presentations. Completely self-contained, equipped with audio-visual facilities and Wi-Fi, and with its own bar and tailored menus available, the flexible space is suited to all private occasions. The Club Room can accommodate up to 40 seated and up to 90 for standing events. There is no room hire charge and a bespoke menu is offered so guests are not limited to having the same dishes.

JAMES ABBOTT

Hixter Bankside, 16 Great Guildford St, London SE1 0HS

James Abbot has worked at Hixter since day one, for nearly two and a half years, starting his Hix journey at Tramshed as Sous Chef. Originally from Doncaster, he was made head chef at the beginning of 2015 and is the ‘father’ of the kitchen, priding himself on giving new cooks a chance and training them up into budding chefs.

Their Private Dining Room…

Mark’s Bar can accommodate up to 40 guests on one long table, or up to 60 on five round tables. The space has its own, sunken, bar, and is perfect for a DJ and/or band. The space can be hired for lunch or dinner as a funky, alternative private dining option.
