Private Dining London returns to Knightsbridge this week to experience the delights of Alain Ducasse and his executive chef Alexandre Nicolas in The Bulgari Hotel, with their much acclaimed Rivea restaurant. Sited at the bottom of a luxuriously carpeted sweeping staircase and framed by an elegant curtain made of individual threads, Rivea takes on its own corner of privacy in the busy hotel whilst keeping a busy ambience for a Friday evening.
There are three private dining rooms offered at Rivea for two different group sizes. The first one can take up to 12 guests seated and is a light, elegant room with sliding doors to enter, which is ideal for smaller groups with family or for business entertaining. Upon our visit, the second and third private dining room were joined together to accommodate a long table for 18-24 guests. You will find that these two private dining rooms are a little bit more formal in design but for private groups the table can act as the perfect back drop for flowers, centrepieces and themed events. It was all set and ready for a corporate team Dinner when we visited, what lucky guests.
We started our Dinner with a fresh glass of Alain Ducasse Champagne which was accompanied with bread sticks and a plethora of flavoured dips, Roasted Panisse as well as Tigelle, Pesto & Rocket which left us experiencing the Italian/French infusion from the very beginning. A selection of starters followed for sharing with highlights including Marinated Line-Caught Sea Bream, Stone Bass Carpaccio with Pine Nuts and Vitello Tonnato. The veal was so delicate it melted in the mouth and the sea bream matched deliciously with the citrus accompaniment. A real stand-out dish we would recommend is the Chestnut Velouté with Ricotta Ravioli. Creamy, warming and delicate this is a real winter hit for any party. Although, not for sharing. You will want your own bowl, trust us!
For mains we feasted on the Leg of Milk-Fed Lamb with Tender Root Vegetables and Rosemary Jus, which is available on their festive private dining menus this Christmas. The dish is a generous portion and the condiments of mustard with currants and herb sauce make it even more delicious. We would recommend this dish for your guests because the sharing style is a great talking point whilst offering something for all appetites, big or small. The dish was pleasingly filling which is just what you need on a cold winter evening.
Feeling festive, we finished with their beautifully presented Yule Log which was delicate, rich and fruity. This dessert is true nod to the Christmas feast you will find offered by Rivea restaurant this Winter and we have left still dreaming of that Chestnut Velouté. As for the service and welcome we received, absolutely faultless. Which bodes itself well for the demands of private dining.
