Spotlight: Vineet Bhatia London

Private Dining Room - The Lutyens Room at Vineet Bathia

Vineet Bhatia’s extravaganza is not to be missed in his new flagship London restaurant. Housed inside a beautiful Kensington Townhouse, the restaurant is tucked away from Kings Road near to Sloane Square.

We arrived at the “knocker” entrance and felt as if welcomed into Vineet’s own home by his team. The ground floor restaurant space is intimate without being crowded which reflects their intention to commit attention (and the time) to the experience their menu provides. The back section of the restaurant which is for small groups is housed underneath a beautiful glass ceiling.

Vineet Bhatia London, or VBL for short, has two private rooms. Their two private dining rooms are housed on the first floor and are perfect for groups wanting a fine Asian dining experience. Their smaller room, The Wittet Room is for maximum 8 guests for dining and the larger room out of the two, The Lutyens Room, can accommodate 12 guests seated at maximum capacity. The rooms are stylishly designed with interiors composed by Vineet’s wife Rashima. The modernity of the furniture marries with the original fireplaces whilst greys, blues and flashes of yellow bring life into their Victorian rooms.

Now for the menu. We are lovers of Indian cuisine so the menu was highly anticipated and didn’t fail to thrill. All dishes are bitesize or tasting sizes which is no surprise when you discover it is 16 dishes! Without spoiling the surprise too much, we move from a small fried potato dish with a pipette of yoghurt (aloo-yoghurt chaat) and a duo of scallops with edamame and juicy pearl cous cous (Ghee Scallops, Edamame and Pearl Cous Cous) all the way to Vineet’s signature Salmon dish which arrives in a cloche of smoke (Smoked Salmon) and a beautifully aromatic lamb chop (Kapi Lamb Chop). As for the dessert, the caramel ice cream melting slowly on the Himalayan Salt Rock is the ideal centrepiece finale for any private dinner. The Sommelier offered a number of complimentary wines to accompany the different dishes, with my favourite being the White, Castra Rubra, Bulgarian blend served with the Salmon. You can choose to dine without the wine if you would like to.

One aspect we cannot shy away from here is the crockery – incredible. The detail that has gone into plating each dish is upon crockery to match and reflects the passion behind the menu.

This is Vineet Bhatia’s new beginning with a deliciously adventurous wine accompaniment, food to delight any group and private dining rooms that feel perfectly at home in this Chelsea restaurant. If you are looking for an experience, not just a menu, these are the private dining rooms for you. Your guests will certainly be talking when you thrill them with Vineet’s menu.
