We’ve got that weekend feeling and nothing encapsulates the taste of the weekend like a good glass of wine at Humble Grape’s Fleet Street restaurant and bar. The Private Dining London team have come for a show around of their event spaces and to taste some dishes that groups have the chance to enjoy if they hire any of their rooms.
Humble Grape prides itself on discovering wines from relatively unknown vineyards from around the world in order to bring them to both the wine novice and the wine connoisseur. They import the bottles themselves to cut out the middle men as well as the price for clients, plus they’ve got a wine club – what’s not to like?
Their restaurant space will surprise you as you approach the front entrance and get to an inconspicuous gateway and enter into the large cellar-style restaurant and bar area. Some of the bear brick work features throughout, the walls are adorned with a decorative cork lining and the bar features champagne racks that were once used to transport all of those bubbles.
The long, wooden banqueting tables catch our eye as we imagine our guests seated together with charcuterie, cheeses and wines spread all over for guests to share. In terms of spaces, there is a private dining room at Humble Grape which ideal for wine tasting events and dinners for maximum 18 guests, the far end of the restaurant (the private event space) can be hired exclusively for up to 50 guests seated or 80 standing and together with the middle section (the private and central events space) you can do maximum 100 guests seated. Take on the whole venue and you can seat up to 150 guests. They also have a projection screen which is ideal for any groups looking for a meeting or conference space with a difference. Exclusive hire of the space is full of character for corporate dinners, right in the heart of London’s legal mecca or we would recommend this for weekend parties or weddings because you can enjoy privacy, great wine and natural light which floods in through the windows.
Humble Grape treat us to the best selection of what events groups can enjoy, including a fresh charcuterie board and Mediterranean board with a little bit of everything for us to try. The goats cheese, delicious! For mains we had a crispy piece of pork belly and their salmon fillet dish, both filling and tasty whilst the two desserts, blueberry cheesecake crème brullée and chocolate mousse cake.
It is without a doubt that of course the wines here are the main star of the show, but for us, the fresh interiors and amount of space hidden in this wine restaurant make it a great find for any City event, small or large.
