Le Cellar Galvin Bistrot de Luxe

As soon as you walk into Galvin Bistrot de Luxe, located just off Baker Street and about 5 minutes’ walk from the tube, you are instantly transported to the classics of France; from the ambient atmosphere to the warming red décor and the buzz of the busy restaurant. The restaurant is clearly still such a favourite and Private Dining London visit the private spaces in this smaller Galvin offering.

The first of two private dining rooms at Galvin Bistrot de Luxe, “Le Cellar” can be found down a small stair case at the side of the main restaurant. This basement private room has slick décor and has its own bar for guests. If you hire this for a seated dinner it is ideal for 22 guests and it boasts flexible and movable furniture that you can tailor to your needs. The tables can even be adjusted in height should you have some younger diners with you. The second space is a semi-private dining room that is hidden at the back of the main restaurant. Clear sliding doors give up to 12 diners privacy and peace from the restaurant whilst retaining a view of the kitchen and other diners.

Salon Privee Galvin Bistrot de Luxe

Our meal started with escargots doused in garlic butter, giving us a real taste of the French experience. With such a signature dish done well and the option of a portion of six or twelve this starter is great if you’re sharing and fancy trying something adventurous. For main course, we opted for the waitress’s recommendation of Pork Belly and their Rump of Hardwick Lamb. The Pork belly fell apart as you cut into it with the boudin noir and carrots complemented the dish nicely. The Lamb was deliciously pink and the seasonal asparagus accompaniment perfect for the hot weather. The dessert of vanilla creme brullée with strawberry sorbet looked too pretty to eat and was a refreshing finish to the meal whilst the chocolate fondant was perfectly gooey and rich.

At Galvin Bistrot de Luxe the food is guaranteed to please your guests and they have a good variety of French classics on the menu for different tastes. We enjoyed our evening of French food and their private dining rooms are ideal for an intimate family get together, a group of ladies who lunch or relaxed business dinner. The staff are courteous, friendly and welcoming which really adds a strong factor in recommending the restaurant or private dining experience to diners.
