Spotlight: Inamo Camden

Inamo Camden

Inamo Restaurant has been on our visit list for some time now and this week we experienced the mix of sushi and technology for ourselves. With three locations in Soho, Covent Garden and Camden we take a table at the latter to find out what they offer for private dining and events bookings.

Inamo serves a menu that harmonises Japanese, Chinese, Thai and Korean cuisines and has been welcoming diners since 2008. The Camden restaurant is at the bottom of Camden High Street and not too far from Mornington Crescent. But what is unique to their experience? Well, it must be the tables that are projected upon with games, table “cloths” and ordering facilities plus the iPad ordering system. The blend of technology and the restaurant experience is hard to adjust to for someone who loves the traditional restaurant service but it becomes quite comfortable after some time. They have an array of spaces available for hire and the Camden location is perfect for the summer with the private terrace that is available for groups up to 18 guests and the upstairs room is ideal for 38 people. They offer a range of sushi making classes for groups that are looking for activities and table projections can be personalised with branding for something a little bit special.

It’s hard to write this review with a starter, main and dessert structure because Inamo serve your dishes on a first-to-be-prepared basis and we love this “lucky dip” concept with the dishes continuously arriving freshly prepared. We ordered from the iPad and as the dishes start arriving we notice the vibrant array of colours in the ingredients. First to arrive is the Crispy Tofu, Fire Roll sushi and the Korean Chicken Wings which is reflective of the completely different Asian styles on the menu and all are delicious. My favourite to arrive is the Dragon Roll sushi with the crispy tempura shrimp and the Rainbow California Rolls because both are colourful and impressive dishes. Unfortunately, on this occasion they’ve ran out of the Roast Duck that day but we hope to return to try it. The Lychee Martini is so sweet and the perfect Asian-style take on the classic. We aren’t a fan of the Wasabi Martini but it would be a great choice for the savoury, Wasabi lover who likes something more adventurous!

Inamo has a good mixture of smaller and larger sized private dining spaces so is ideal for parties looking for subtle entertainment, good food and unique atmosphere. Their dishes have an impressive appearance and overall, we were happy with the taste. With the mixed menu and plenty of vegetarian options, you’re guaranteed to have dishes that please everyone.
