Today, Private Dining London explores the unusual and undiscovered restaurant space at The Levin Hotel. The Knightsbridge Metro is fully equipped for private dining events and because it is just a stone’s throw away from Harrods, we were eager to take a peak at this fun space!
The hotel is linked to its better-known sister (and neighbour) The Capital Hotel and when we arrive the events team are welcoming and personal which reflects the boutique nature of the establishment. The Levin Hotel is contemporary in style with a converted townhouse vibe and the interiors are inviting with a most spectacular dropped chandelier adorning the centre of the staircase [pictured]. Below the reception, The Knightsbridge Metro can be accessed through the main hotel or it has its own private street entrance directly into the space. Situated on basement level, the restaurant is opened up through the clever use of mirrors and bright colours. We admit that it is colourful whilst being a little awkward to get your head around the configuration of the space upon first glance but there is something charming and cute about the prospect of hiring it for a private party, celebration or gathering. For a seated dinner, The Knightsbridge Metro can accommodate 24 guests on separate tables but we feel the space lends itself very well to standing receptions with maximum 60 guests so that you can make the most of the quirky layout and vibrant colours. As an extra, there is small terrace through the back door which is perfect for anyone wanting some fresh or it’s super-convenient for any smokers in your group. What’s even more appealing is that you can hire this quirky little space with a low minimum spend of only £250.00 at the bar (yes, you read that correctly!)
Open to the general public for breakfast and lunch, the kitchen serves classics such as Caesar Salad, Fish & Chips and Afternoon Tea. We try the smoked salmon “salad” which is more of a simple fish and bread combination, which turns out to be perfect for a light lunch and we also try the fish and chips which is delicious and a large portion, but who can complain at that! The food here is traditional and familiar, just like a public house but with an affordable price point for a hotel restaurant. Overall, we are impressed with the menu and quality of the dishes.
The Knightsbridge Metro is perfectly informal and quaint but also vibrant. It feels like an upgrade from the local pub and it’s such a bargain events space within walking distance of Knightsbridge station.
