Spotlight: The Ambassadors Bloomsbury
This week Private Dining London walked through the doors of a Bloomsbury hotel little known for cuisine and glamour but more for corporate events and ease of location for the London tourism scene. However, The Ambassadors Bloomsbury holds many surprises for all types of private dining events, parties and restaurant lovers.
The outside of the building is very grand with its historic look, terracotta colour and flags flying high but it can easily be missed when walking down the street with floods of people from Euston Station aiming for Central London. The hotel is privately owned and having experienced their booking process, we are very happy with how the private ownership filters down to the customer service offered by the front of house and operations staff. Most of the event spaces are in the lower section of the hotel without natural light but range in size for an array of needs. The largest space can accommodate seated events for up to 160 guests for dinners and works perfectly well for conferences, team building days, Christmas parties and Winter events close to Euston. The wood panelling and mirrored walls create an illusion of space and the events team have just upgraded the seats with therapeutic back support which will make day conferences a little easier on the guests. They have AV on site for all your needs too! The Ambassadors has a set of private dining rooms and smaller break out spaces with varying dining capacities ranging from 15 to 80 guests seated, which sport the same wood panelling and furniture but are affordably priced for strict budgets in a good location. The restaurant can also be hired as an event space and with the natural light, bright décor and easy-to-find location it is a brilliant option for parties needing space for 90 seated and 120 standing when taking the whole space or there is the possibility of having a semi-private dining area.
“Number Twelve” restaurant is the main food option at the hotel and provides breakfast to staying guests in the morning but transforms into an Italian Grill for Lunch and Dinner diners. Number Twelve is popular spot for afternoon tea which we have read a number of brilliant reviews of. However, with the new appointment of Chef Charles Holtz the a la carte and events menus are slowly being transformed with a new lease of life. The menu is in transition currently but Holtz has started to bring authentic methods into the team including pasta being handmade in the kitchen which we tried for our starter of Spinach and ricotta tortellini with sage, burnt butter sauce and parmesan crisp. We preferred the grill options for main course and opted for the Sirloin Steak with Béarnaise Sauce which was perfectly rare with crispy onion rings and some good British chips. Altogether we feel that the portion sizes are generous and ideal for diners with a large appetite whilst keeping a great quality of taste which can be hard to find in the hotel’s location. The afternoon tea is served in a contemporary style and is priced at £25.00 per person with sandwiches and delicious homemade patisserie.
If you’re around Euston and looking for a hearty meal, conference location or affordable private dining room, look no further than The Ambassadors Bloomsbury Hotel who have good quality space for all sizes, a menu in the throes of development (we cannot wait to return to experience the finished selection) and a team that help with your needs every step of the events planning process.
