PRIVATE DINING ROOM & RESTAURANT BLOG

Spotlight: Mosimann's

June 15, 2018

We’ve dreamed of dining here for some time and last week Private Dining London had the opportunity to visit London’s private dining club, Mosimann’s! Anton Mosimann OBE’s pride and joy is nestled in the centre of Chelsea’s affluent district and houses unique private dining spaces, a bar and a beautiful centralised restaurant. Following his prestigious role at the Dorchester Hotel, Mosimann acquired a Scottish Presbyterian Church in 1988 and opened the club following renovation.

Besides the main restaurant, Mosimann’s also offers diners a variety of private dining options for all occasions including the World’s Smallest Private Dining Room. With 7 unique private dining rooms Mosimann’s is a luxurious venue to host your next private dining event in. Interestingly, all of the private dining rooms are named after brands that sponsor them. Spaces range from The Montblanc Room for two diners, which will be very popular with our romantic clients, to the brilliance of The Garrard Room, seating 50 guests within the beautiful eaves of the bell tower. The Bentley Room has Bentley leather chairs, The Lalique Room has opulent glass throughout and the popular Parmigiani Fleurier private dining room has the perk of a small terrace attached for welcome drinks whilst the design is elegant and stylish just like the Swiss luxury watchmaker it's named after. All of the private dining rooms are based on a room hire and minimum spend basis.

Walking into Mosimann’s you feel every bit like the royalty they have catered for since opening their doors over twenty-five years ago. Greeted by four of the friendly front of house team, we were guided upstairs to their balcony bar which, as its name suggests, looks over Mosimann’s stunning main dining area. Whilst sipping on our refreshing fruity cocktails, we admired the unique and grand converted church-turned-restaurant interiors. An impressive wine room stands where the organ was once displayed and vines of pink flowers cascade up the wooden pillars that frame the restaurant.

After our pre-dinner cocktails, we were escorted downstairs to the main dining area where we were seated at a corner table, which we were told was Princess Diana’s favourite spot, with a fabulous 360 view of the restaurant. The team here have refined the luxury service experience but one of the many things that differentiates Mosimann’s is the attention to detail; each table is decorated with quirky animal silverware centrepieces and they have respectful stools for any bags whilst you dine.

For starters, we indulged in the generously sized portion of Seared Beef Carpaccio with artichokes, black truffles and pecorino and before main course we were treated to a taster of the deliciously creamy-yet-light Risotto ai Fungi. The incredibly tender Seared Fillet of British Beef main was served with four pepper sauce and a combination of Covent Garden vegetables whereas the Beef Tartare was classic and delicious. The Passion Fruit Soufflé desert was a personal highlight; served with a refreshing yoghurt ice cream, it was the perfect end to an exceptional meal. The sommelier Tony offered wine recommendations to complement our dishes with knowledge and a hint of adventure.

From our visit we can tell you that the service is top-notch, the private spaces elegantly classic, the food generous and refined. Mosimann’s really does have an exciting private dining room for all types of guests and occasions without missing a hit on any element of the hospitality experience. When can we come back?!
