Tredwells, 4a Upper St Martin's Lane, London WC2H 9NY
This gem in Seven Dials, close to Covent Garden and Leicester Square, offers Central London links and Marcus Wareing standards of food and service to diners. Their lower ground floor space can be transformed for a variety of events to suit your needs, including seated dinner for up to 60 guests which is perfect for medium-sized dinners or the space can accommodate up to 150 guests standing for canapes and drinks. This basement private dining room is located next to the kitchens which provides the buzz that comes from the hive of Wareing’s kitchen operations and includes its own bar for the private use of guests.
The Crypt Café, Spitalfields Venue, Christ Church, Commercial Street, London E1 6LY
The Crypt, located in the vibrant East End, is an inspiring location for an intimate private dinner for up to 50 guests below ground. Despite being a basement private dining room, the space features windows providing streams of natural light and so contrary to what the name might suggest; this surprisingly light and airy space has been recently re-designed to incorporate the historic stone foundations of the original structure with modern light oak paneling and underfloor heating. We have featured their other spaces before but never this one, surprisingly!
The Postal Museum and Mail Rail, Phoenix Place, London WC1X
We are so excited for this new opening! Mid 2017 will see a new large basement private dining experience in the form of The Postal Museum in Farringdon, Central London. Not only will the venue provide a unique subterranean event space it will include an immersive underground ride through the 100-year-old secret tunnels! With seating for up to 140 guests we will keep you updated about this space as more news develops. For now, above is a mock-up of what to expect…
Gymkhana, 42 Albemarle Street, Mayfair, London, W1S 4JH
Awarded a Michelin Star in 2014, this Mayfair restaurant includes a number of private dining vaults within the lower ground floors. The vaults can provide the ideal setting for intimate dining as they can be made private or semi-private so you can feel as exclusive as you’d like. In terms of the menu, Gymkhana serves contemporary Indian cuisine using seasonal British ingredients with a sharing style – yummy!
Wright Brothers, Soho, Kingly Court, 13 Kingly St, Carnaby, London W1B 5PW
This popular London private dining room is no doubt one of our favourites and we previously reviewed in our Spotlight: Wright Brothers Soho for you to check out in further detail. This London basement private dining room takes diners below ground to eat within the hubbub of the kitchen and with a maximum of 18 guests it’s big enough for Dinners and parties wanting a Central London location which offers something a little different.
So who said basements have to be boring?! Choose any of these London private dining rooms below ground and you’re prepared for a very special event.
